adventures in toddlerhood and sewing.

A is as adventurous as ever. He's learned how to remove the couch cushions and throw them around and gleefully sit where they once were. He's been doing it several times a day. Silly boy.
A has wanted to help a lot around the house this weekend. He sat on my lap while I was sewing curtains wanting to touch the foot and needle as it moved around as well as readjusting my stitches and tension. He is also getting some experience cooking. He helped mix the blueberry buckle I made for MOPS and poured the water and milk in the pan for daddy's favorite instant mashed potatoes to go with our roast last night. He's growing so fast and such a wonderful little boy!

The curtain project...

Mom and Dad Beckett arrive this week for a couple days to get their camper ready for their first expedition down to Alabama for some much needed reprieve from surgery, cold and SNOW! Scott thought we could help bring some spring to the camper with some new curtains and asked me to give it a whirl. I was hesitant just because I'd never done anything like it before but felt my way through it and enjoyed the challenge. You can see above the new curtains for the bathroom (which just happen to match the shower curtain) and below are the new bedroom curtains. I really like the blue ribbon accent in the valance. Hopefully they will too.
Below are the living room curtains which remain to be redone. I need Mom's input on that since it's such a larger area. Any suggestions?
This week is going to be full of a slobbery sick boy, visits from Grandma and Grandpa Beckett and the superbowl which we cannot watch because we don't have the TV hooked up...I wonder which projects we'll get into this weekend. :)

I wish I was more diligent some days in recording more of what life is like as mom or the funny things that A does on a daily basis but most days don't include the moments to do that so here are some picture updates...

Happy Birthday Great Aunt Darliene!

Today marks a very special person in our lives' birthday. Great Aunt Darliene! We just wanted to tell you we love you very much and are very thankful for you in our lives. You have shown amazing generosity, love, care, support, prayer, listening, advice, and laughter. We love you! Happy 70th Birthday!

Me me me

Angus' new favorite Signing Time song is the family song where the verses go something like this.."in a house in a home there are mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers and there's me me me!" So his new favorite saying is "me me me!" He was in a super silly mood before his nap so I thought I'd take the time to record his silliness. Enjoy this cute video.

My favorite part of the song is "I know my family is unlike any other...yours was made for you and mine was made for me!"

Pictures and such

So it's been a while since I've blogged mostly because we've been away on vacation in a way visiting friends and family up North. I think we logged around 1700 miles at least and that was pretty good considering we came home early because me and A got sick. For some reason on our trip I was negligent in taking photos. Go figure! So here are a few from pre trip and post trip. S returns to work on Monday so we're going to start getting into a routine as a family again. I'm looking forward to that. Best wishes for the new year!

One of the added bonuses of a new dishwasher...A BOX! We enjoyed playing in it over and over again peeking through the hole.
My little boy is gettin so BIG!

In the new year my closet is now organized with a handy dandy closet organizer by Rubbermaid at Lowes. So easy to install and use. AND our dishwasher died so this is A helping Daddy install the new one.

Who knew I could be a floral arranger? I enjoyed being crafty the day before we left for our trip at MOPS and created this lovely floral arrangement. I gave it to our neighbor to enjoy.
Vvrrooom! Vvvrrooom! Angus enjoying his Christmas present from Aunt Darliene.
