My first Blog award!

The sweetest Sunee bestowed upon me this lovely award. Thanks friend! You certainly added more sunshine to my day.

Spring has Sprung

There is nothing but neglect for this blog I'm afraid. My motherly, wifely, daughterly, and sisterly duties have been much more a priority. But here are some pictures with updates on life in this new season of Spring.

Isn't she a beauty? This is a Lenton Rose that I found haphazardly in the garden section of Walmart two years ago and it hasn't stopped making me smile since.

She is a majestic plant that blooms upside down. You never get to enjoy her beauty unless you gently pick up the blossom and take a look.

She is a perennial that magically appears from the soil in late winter. I think she is named a Lenton Rose because she tends to bloom during Lenton season.

Our biggest news is we are moving soon! To Virginia for the Captain Career Course. We will be there for six months and after that it's up to the Army. We've been busy painting and getting things ready to rent our house while we are away.

Goose ran into one of the walls I was painting and got it all over his hands so I had him pose with his rendition of "taping". He pulled all the tape off the walls where he was supposed to and come up with this creative masterpiece.

caught on the deck standing on his potty. Guess he wanted some more height to play with his cars. I found him like this after fifteen minutes of painting in the other room.

We have begun the adventure of planting seeds. Our neighbor Melissa brought over a garden tote with a rake, some shovels, soil, pots and seeds for zucchini and carrots. Angus gets very excited when he sees them growing. They are almost an inch or two above the pots now.

While I don't update my blog often you can always catch up with more pictures on facebook. www.facebook.com/mrsbuckett

  • More Christmas fun. Lights on the cumberland river walk, and opening presents at home before our travels. A bucket for tools and a "geetar"

Enjoying Christmas traditions: making apple jack garland for the tree, playing with the nativity, hanging out with Rea, and modeling his winter gear.

We traveled to a city in Kentucky just outside Cincinnati for Thanksgiving with my side of the family.

Pictures to update you

In November we took a ride up to Scott's parents house for a quick visit and to take the rest of Scott's VW Bug to his friend Nick's to finish the work.

The break has ended

Fun with a great friend.

My latest craftiness...potholders!

Assistant in the kitchen...helping me peel/core/chop apples for home made applesauce.

My sweet boy is growing up!

My blog/facebook time away has ended. I learned a lot about the two and how I put a lot of time and effort into them. I also realized how it was easy to put other things aside and wonder what the latest news was from everyone from college days to my elementary school friend. So I will not be updating as often. The following are some pictures from our adventures from the past few months.

Did you miss me?

It's been difficult not to post something here. So for those of you who miss the Goose boy here's a quick picture for you to enjoy for another week or so until I upload all of the blogs of events that have happened in the last few weeks. Angus is enjoying playing outside in this fall weather.

Time for a Break

I've recently come to terms with the fact that I spend way tooo much time on the internet when I should be doing other things that fulfill me more than the internet. I've purchased three books in the past three months all of which I've only read a couple pages, I have projects half started and a diet to work on. So the only things that I will be doing on the internet are paying bills and bidding on something on ebay when my father in law asks. I'd love to keep in touch and know what's going on in your life so please call me rather than email. You can even text me. Wish me luck...we're going to finally potty train Angus in the next two weeks when I don't have Berea. See you in November!

Nashville adventure to Nealy's

For my birthday Scott got me a free phone. It has come with a decent camera so I've been taking a lot more pictures with it since it's always with me. A few weekends ago we decided to spend the afternoon/evening in Nashville after Angus' nap. We heard our favorite Christian artist, Andrew Peterson, talk about a new children's book he'd written and browsed the hoighty toighty mall and had BBQ at Nealy's for dinner with a meandering stop at the farmers market too. It was a great family adventure. We're looking forward to our next adventure...Chatanooga in a couple weeks!

cool dude! riding in the car...

mr. independence in awe of how many tvs there were and all the sports on each one. except he doesn't care about football players running around or throwing the ball...it's all about the helmets!

on to the sucking straw poses to prove we were at Nealys.

"the BBQ sauce was incredible!"

"SNAKE...Oooooo!"

I'm hesitant to post this as some of you will be really creeped out but I had to share this crazy story...

Monday's are laundry days. I have come to realize if I do not do it all back to back it will be forgotten in the washer and start to smell after a few days and potentially ruin clothes. So I call Monday...mounds monday. I was down to two more small loads and asked Angus to help me put Scott's socks away in his closet in the office/den/guest room/craft closet. As I was backing out of the closet and Angus had already done so I look down at him looking at a snake on the floor. My first reaction was it was a toy snake but then it started to move and I knew that Angus didn't have such a thing...
He tried to touch it and I was hollering..OOOOOH! OOOH! SNAKE! OOOHHH! It crept along the floor under the pack n play where Berea sleeps and along the bookshelves to the last shelf that holds the old VHS tapes. I chased it over there with a wire hanger while kneeling on the futon and of course Angus was right on my shirt tails. So I decided I didn't want to deal with it immediately and closed the door, stuffed Scott's dirty shirts under the door and called the wildlife removal guys. But they wanted $189 just to come out and $39 per trap. AND I couldn't live with the images going through my mind of snakes pouring out of every orface of my house and all the other horrible snake scenes I'd ever seen from a movie at one point or another. I decided I HAD to do something about it. I put Signing Time on for Angus to watch knowing he'd be glued to it and could use some sharpening of his signs and made sure Berea was secure playing with multiple toys on the living room floor.
I armed myself with two metal hangers and a small flashlight in hopes I'd wrangle it just like a pro snake charmer. My heart was beating a mile a minute and I kept thinking it was so silly to be so hyped up about this but I wasn't sure what kind of snake it was and wanted to keep my babes safe in the house.
Angus approached the office door closed, knocked on it and said, "SNAKE, R U?"

I approached the VHS tapes with the flashlight and the snake didn't like the light so it slithered back into the corner. finally I coaxed it out but it started back in the direction it had originally come from. I ran out of the room thinking I needed something to put the snake in because it was not staying on the hangers like I'd hoped. So I remembered how snake charmers use bags to keep their snakes in. I grabbed a paper sack from the grocery store and manuevered the snake to enter the bag, quickly closed it and doubled it over as I felt the snake wriggling about.
Holding it out from my body I grabbed my phone to take a picture of it so I could later figure out what kind of snake it is etc. I haven't been successful in identifying it's species but I'll leave that for next week when I'm still not tip toeing around in the office area.

From now on Angus hears snake and says..."snake...oooooo!"

I hope there was just one and I will never be able to fondly recite Toy Story's Woody when he says, "there's a snake in my boot!"

Fun with the web cam

The other day after Angus woke up from a nap we played around taking pictures on the web cam...

I love my boy soooo much!

Silly Goose

Here's some photos of what our day to day look like.

He's really into "little people" right now and will call them that rather than "farmer" "driver" etc.

Playin' with Bea/Rea

I'll read a book to you...

Goose and the latest craftiness...

This is what you get as a result of a goose helping you make chocolate muffins.

Mr. independent wants to do EVERYTHING by himself. He found a pair of stretchy pants of Berea's and thought he'd try them on.

A serious tractor pose.

Tryin on daddy's boots.

A collection of reusable baggies made from Mary Englebrite fabrics.

A view of the baggies open with their velcro closures. Good for dry goods and some sandwhiches too.

Berea came dressed for a party on Monday as she turned 5 months old. She wore her cute little hat. Angus thought he'd celebrate by wearing the hat too. :)
