Inventive

Maybe Angus will be an inventor of new and improved things...perhaps a better door handle? I'm constantly amazed at what he tries to do...

Boys are so fun!

Today I had the pleasure of being a back up to a back up babysitter for a coworker I used to work with at the elementary school a couple years ago. I stopped in to say hi on Friday afternoon and she asked if I might be interested. I said sure let's do it! So we enjoyed our new friend Colton who is six days younger than Angus all day today. It was a blast! They played so well together and even spoke a little toddlerese to each other. So cute! They both have a pretty even keel about them and smile all the time. One of their favorite activities today was to run down the hall and into Angus' room back and forth following each other from room to room. They both napped very well on opposite sides of the house too.
This afternoon Katie and Emily came over to play too. We all played in the back yard for a while and decided to take a walk. I put Angus in the backpack and Colton in the stroller and we were off! You should've seen the looks that a couple passer byers gave me. Maybe they thought I was a little desperate to get out of the house.
Truth is this was one of the best days yet! The boys really enjoyed playing together and I couldn't have asked for a more well behaved little boys.

They both have matching bibs on because they were both very droooly today from chewing on everything they could. Stinkin' molars!

Angus figured out how to get behind his new toy box and play.

Reading before nap time.

I caught you in the kitchen chewing on the toy! Let's go in the living room next!

They couldn't eat or drink alone. If one was drinking the other looked for his cup.

Love bug

I love my son. He's such a little love bug especially when he's tired. This morning I tried to get him to take a short nap before church so he wouldn't be too tired but he refused. He threw out all his lovies from his bed and screamed and cried for 15 mins until I gave them all back to him and took a shower. I came back to check on him and he was quietly stroking his "porky", his porcupine lovey. As a result he barely made it to the restaurant after church without falling asleep. If we hadn't met our friends there with their little Katie I think he wouldn't have done as well. He fell asleep 2 minutes before we pulled in the driveway. We're hoping to get a few minutes in this afternoon of webcam time with Grandma and Grandpa Sivyer like we do on Sunday afternoons.

Sleeping Goose headed
inside to sleep some more.

The weekend isn't all that different...

It's interesting how the weekend isn't much different for me now that I stay at home with Angus. It's just another day filled with the typical things we do every day. I look forward to when Scott comes home and we can celebrate the weekends with spending extra time with him. :)
I went to a "redeployment briefing" today which means I sat in a conference room listening to power point presentations on details of when Scott could come home and all the details surrounding the welcome home ceremony etc. The best presenter was a guy who talked about mental health issues. He was very animated and loud. It certainly kept our attention on the rainy cold morning when everyone wished they could snuggle back under the covers or call it a movie day and do nothing but watch movies with the kiddos. (Angus would be delighted with a signing time marathon all day long) We're very much looking forward to Scott's arrival home some time around the end of next month. It's crazy to think we could have less than 30 days until he's home!?!?!?
I really don't have much more to blog about tonight other than how I'm enjoying Angus so much. Today I sat with him on the dining room floor and tossed a plastic ring back and forth from him as he giggled so contently. He's starting to back up into my lap now. I cherish little things like that.

This posted picture is when he fell asleep in the car and I put him down for a nap. He looks like his daddy falling asleep.

What a FUN DAY!

The adventurous crew..me, angus, wesley, marianne, and anna.

Today was the day we were going to the Christian Way Farm's Harvest Praise in Hopkinsville KY about 45 minutes away from our house. I did not realize how MUCH fun we were going to have! The morning didn't quite go as planned with Angus refusing to have an early morning nap so he'd be in a decent mod for a few hours. So of course he fell asleep 10 minutes before we pulled into the parking field to wait for the tractor to pull our hay ride up the hill to the farm. Well it didn't matter. He was so excited to see his friends Wesley and Marianne and all the other kids not to mention the animals everywhere. He especially enjoyed the goats. They seemed to wander over to the fence more often to invite petting and feeding. We had so much fun that we stayed for just over 3 hours! And I had to marvel and how well Angus did without a stroller. He often would not go anywhere without wanting to hold my hand (something that is not true in most settings lately...he's very inquisitive and LOVES to explore anywhere). Things we enjoyed included: hayrides, tractor pull, wagon ride, pumpkin patch, pumpkins are balls aren't they?, puppet show, cows, pigs and piglets, goats and kids, donkeys, cheez its, swings, and holding hands. Here are some pictures of the day to showcase some of the fun. I uploaded 35 of the 134 I took today on facebook. You can see them all here. We hope you get a chance to enjoy some of falls harvest blessings!a fun new way to see a sunflower through my camera's eye

Tentative in the hay castle.

Ooohhh. I like this one!

What about this one?

Hey Donkey! Will you come over here if I give you a piece of corn husk?

My favorite picture of the day.

It takes 2 baby

Tonight I watched our friend Katie as her parents enjoyed a much needed and deserved night out at a Rascal Flatts concert in Nashville. I wish I could've had a camera attached to my head and taken pictures when I wanted. It was one of those nights I wish I was inspector Gadget. They had a lot of fun together chasing each other around and laughing at each other. They swung on the swings next to each other. (Katie was adventurous and wanted to swing on the big kid swing) They played in the leaves, with the balls, watching an episode of baby signing time and took a bath! I was wondering how I would handle drying them both off and getting them in their PJ's but it wasn't that bad. They both did great! When it was time for bed they both willingly and quietly! laid down their sweet heads and wandered off to dream land.

Let me help you make a pile ma ma!

Good friends. :)

another day done

My handsome boy in the tub!

It's another day closer til Scott returns. Our days have been filled with endless tasks of getting things ready for his homecoming. Mostly projects around the house that have been neglected this past year as I've focused on finishing grad school and raising Angus and even more so because I've been living as a bachelorette.
This morning we attempted MOPS again. I was very excited to go and didn't think Angus would have a problem with childcare because he didn't last time. I think the big issue is he's a HUGE sympathy crier. Often times just strolling around the supermarket he will start whining or crying because he hears another child doing the same. Needless to say we didn't make it through the main speaker or the craft. (It's a good thing I don't know what it was cuz I was already disappointed) Ah well. A few snuggles on the couch watching signing time after a snack was nice. Then he slept for 2.5 hours. Another nice thing.
We were successful in finding a nice curtain rod for our living room curtains that are still waiting to be made. Here's a pic of what part of it looks like. I really love this fabric and how it ties together the brown of the couch and the gold of the walls. And on a nice sunny day you can notice some glimmer from the gold in some spots.
Angus has picked up on cars recently. He now likes to sit on his truck Grandma and Grandpa Beckett gave him for his birthday and he's been pushing around cars on the kitchen floor while I make dinner. I can only imagine the kinds of sound effects he's going to produce. Some days I think I have stories to tell now...just wait I know.
He's been Mr. chatterbox lately. Tonight especially he was trying very hard to communicate. :)
